Thailand offshoring and outsourcing contract manufacturing capabilities are well underway.
Thailand’s electronics industry has attracted a large number of contract manufacturers such as:
- Benchmark Electronics
- Fabrinet
- Hana Microelectronics
- Kimball Electronics Group
- Brilliant Manufacturing
- Celestica
Celestica has touted Thailand’s geographic location, infrastructure, and government support for the electronics contract manufacturing industry for some time. The Company has a considerable presence in the country and speaks highly of the country’s workforce quality, low worker turnover, and low total cost of doing business.
Thailand’s Board of Investment (BoI) recently promoted new tax breaks and other incentives to encourage electronics industry investments that clearly communicate the country’s recognition of the importance of contract electronics manufacturing as part of the nation’s future.
To help build out infrastructure, the country cleverly designed some incentives for companies setting up business in the country to receive greater benefits for those organizations building facilities farther away from Bangkok. R&D projects also receive special incentives under the Skills Technology and Innovation (SKI) framework.

Could the author, or another knowledgeable person, please clarify what rate is, was, and how to find more information? The Board of Investment does not highlight any incentives to the electronics industry as far as I can see. http://www.boi.go.th/english/how/tax_rates_and_double_taxation_agreements.asp
Thank you.
