Nortech Systems' CEO Mike Degen joins Minnesota trade mission to India

October 23, 2007

Mike Degen, president and CEO of Nortech Systems Inc., is accompanying more than 40 other Minnesota business leaders, media representatives and government officials as a member of the India trade delegation led by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty on October 20-27. The purpose is to explore trade and investment opportunities, and to connect with key Indian and U.S. business organizations.

"I appreciate the efforts of Governor Pawlenty and the other state officials who are responsible for planning this important trade mission," said Degen. "India's growing prominence in the world economy, particularly with manufacturing, makes this trip a worthwhile, logical exploration for Nortech Systems. While our roots remain solidly in the Upper Midwest, we serve many Fortune 500 manufacturers and other large companies already operating in India." Degen added, "India also represents a growing market for electronics manufacturing services companies like Nortech."

Nortech Systems is a leading provider of full-service electronics manufacturing services (EMS), with facilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Monterrey, Mexico. The company also has an operating partnership in Shenzhen, China.

Business Week magazine recently reported that industrial production in India climbed 12.5 percent for the year ending in March 2007, the highest level in recent years. Forty percent of the 340 multinational companies surveyed by the consultant firm Capgemini said they plan to establish manufacturing operations in India by 2012.

This trade mission is being organized by the Minnesota Trade Office, and will include visits to New Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai. The agenda includes market and industry presentations, networking events, business roundtable discussions and other similar events.
