The first “TAITRONICS India” premieres in India from September 14 to 16 at Chennai Trade Centre Hall 1. To make it happen the TWTC (Taipei World Trade Center Co., Ltd.) has teamed up with TEEMA (Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association) to bring in the muscle of Taiwan’ industry.
According to statistics up to this June published by the Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan relationships with India have also flourished.
The show comes just when Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade reports that trading between the two nations up to this August has reached US$3 billion and the bilateral trade has grown 72% over last year. Strong marriage with new trade agreements
This new relationship is underwritten with an armload of fresh trade and industrial agreements. There’s the recently signed “Taiwan-India Investment Protection Agreement” and dozens of others. The “Taiwan-India Double-Taxation Relief Agreement” currently being negotiated will bring Taiwan businesses in India unsurpassed protection and official assistance.
For years the India market has beckoned Taiwan business with fresh prospects. This fresh market has welcomed such Taiwan pioneers as China Airlines, Eva Air, Evergreen Line, Continental Engineering, ACER, BenQ, Asus, Gigabyte, D-Link, Synnex, and Foxconn, who have established manufacturing plants or operation offices across India.
Meanwhile, this year two giant Taiwan wafer OEM manufacturers, Taiwan Semi-Conductor and UMC have also established offices and customer service branches in India. For much of Taiwan business, the examples of those above provide solid ground on which to enter the Indian market.
India is not only the 11th largest automobile producer in the world. The data-communications market driven by its huge population base is also promising. Other equally promising industries with relative competitive advantages include tool machines, hand tools, food processors, services and telecommunications.
These just happen to be areas where Taiwan industry enjoys considerable technological strength. The best part is that there’s a lot in this relationship for both sides.
