Samsung v. Apple: Metrics on revenue, unit share, handset profits, usage

From 2007 to 2013 the mobile handset industry operating profits increased 3x to $51 billion. To further explain this, smartphone makers competing with one another are measured in terms of revenue, unit share, handset profits and usage in a recent report released by investment bank Credit Suisse.

The companies manufacturing the smartphones highlighted include Apple, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, Motorola, Sony, Huawei, RIM, LG among others. (Article continues bottom of pie charts)

Massive shift in profits

Apple and Samsung are leading the competitive pack, with a massive shift in profits going to the two companies. This is further explained by the following, also from the report:

In 2007, Apple and Samsung accounted for 14% of handset industry profits.

In 2012, Apple and Samsung accounted for 105% of handset industry profits.
