I am a technology veteran with over 20 years of experience in a range of capacities. The foundation started with PCB design and layout. I served as an engineering tech, manufacturing planner and buyer. Healthy communication and negotiation skills fueled entry into sales and marketing functions. In this capacity I have performed in distribution, direct and channel sales environments. The EMS field is a great fit for me leveraging a full range of experience and understanding resulting in mutual benefit to my employer, customers and on a personal level.
My thoughts on ...
EMS companies I have worked with
I have worked for RAD Electronics and BTW Inc. As a customer I have used Universal Electronics and Plexus. In a sales capacity I have called on most all EMS providers in the upper midwest.
The skills I often see lacking in the EMS industry today
True customer service and partnering seem to have dwindled. One major suprise to me when entering the EMS space is the lack of understanding both EMS sales people and the customer have about what they are doing business on.
What I think about low-cost manufacturing
Low cost manufacturing has it's place in the field. As do other key deliverables. Quality and service levels are often more important than unit cost. It's all about what is most important to your business.
My thoughts on what makes a good program manager
A good program manager demonstrates a balance of customer satisfaction and business management while accepting total responsibility and using appropriate authority to direct all technical and manufacturing activities.
One of my favorite quotes
"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right." Henry Ford
Some of the countries I have visited for work or play
I have had the pleasure of visiting Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria, Canada and Mexico.
