I am an all-around PCB Designer having insight and analytical skills allowing me to design the best possible Printed Circuit Board (PCB). I have performed the full sweep from library part creation and maintenance to final output data and drawings for fabrication, assembly and archiving in a data repository. I have performed design functions from R & D prototype concepts to maintenance and improvement of legacy designs.
Seeing problem solving as the basis for next design respin and improvement, I have been called upon many times to assist both PCB fabricators & assemblers in resolving concerns. As new technologies emerge, I try to peruse the IPC blog to keep abreast of how others tackle recurring and surfacing issues with PCB design, fabrication, assembly & manufacture.
I have used the full suite of Mentor Graphics and ECAD design tools. I have also used HyperLynx to design multi-layer stackups with controlled impedance and briefly used Mentor Graphics CES (Contraint Editor System) design rule system on a design.
To augment my PCB Design career, I have also performed SMT assembly of prototype assemblies along with rework, repair & trouble-shooting of fine pitch high density interconnect (HDI) assemblies. I have worked in several product development environments performing sourcing and costing of parts. Most of the environments I have worked in had tight integration with the mechanical design group for form-factor fit using 3D envelope data and thermal design.
In my current PCB Design Consultancy sole proprietorship I use Altium Designer 10 as my core ECAD design tool.
