My thoughts on ...
What I think about Foxconn
I respect them as a true #1 in the Business. I don't like their employees jumping off the roof..
EMS companies I have worked with
Just Vtech CMS.
The skills I often see lacking in the EMS industry today
Truely understanding the customer's needs, that's the feedback we hear from clients who are joining us. VTech CMS is different and cares about the individual needs of a client.
What I think about some of the emerging EMS markets or regions
Asia (China) and Eastern Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, etc) are too far ahead in the EMS infrastructure, other emerging regions have difficulties to provide the same service.
What I think about low-cost manufacturing
Not a good question. In the EMS field, the total cost of a product is determined by the material cost with about 80%-85%. Thus, it does not make any huge or significant difference if your mfg cost is the lowest.
My thoughts on what makes a good program manager
Well educated, having gone through certifications, competent, good technical knowledge, coordination skills, foresight, devoted to quality, and going the extra mile when it is necessary to solve a problem. He/She needs to take the approach: Do it right the first time.
A book I recommend to others or am currently reading
DONALD TRUMP's Book: Think Big and Kick Ass
If I could travel back in time and witness any event one would be
Was there really a "big bang" happening around 13.7 billion years ago.
One of my favorite quotes
How to run the business quote: Maximum Coverage, Minimum Conflict, Fair Play, and good Communication.
Someone I would most like to sit next to at a dinner party
Paul McCartney
Some of the countries I have visited for work or play
China, Singapore, India, All European Countries, Brazil, Argentina, USA, Canada, Marocco, Israel, Turkey, all Scandinavia, Taiwan,
A helpful travel tip I often use
When meeting with the local customers and clients in that country, try to fully adopt to local customs and habits, avoid arrogance and ignorance.
The ultimate consumer electronics product I would still like to see developed
A battery of the size of a cubic inch which can be recharged and can hold the capacity of 10kWhours
A favorite electronics gadget
My electric guitars, the trick sound music equipment, and my Amateur Radio gear
One of my favorite toys as a child
Building the first AM radio from a kit, with all the parts, similar concept as a Heathkit electronic kit.
