Repeatability: Build Enduring Businesses for a World of Constant Change, authors
    Chris Zook, James Allen

The book focuses on companies being successful and able to endure do so by keeping things simple. They’re not quick to deviate from their business models radically, or throw away proven strategies in the name of extreme renovation.

Instead, they build models able to scale on repeatability and being consistent to produce continuous improvement allowing them to adapt to changes in the marketplace swiftly without getting bogged down in complexity. A great read!

I’ve talked with Peter (FT.com) a few times and I look forward to reading his book. Tom – I agree with Blue Ocean Strategy as a good pick. Its already on my shelf. I also like any of Seth Godin’s work, plus its fun to read.

The New Industrial Revolution – Consumers, Globalization and the End of Mass Production by
    Peter T. Marsh (FT.com)

But if countries that have historically been at the forefront of events in manufacturing can adapt adroitly, opportunities are by no means over.

A second book that makes for enlightening reading is titled “Competitive Manufacturing” which is also authored by Thomas J. Sowell. However, this book defines production strategies which can be used on the shop floor. It includes engineering protocol and costs reduction methodologies. This is more of a technology book written for production management and not a C-suite book.
