Global electronics manufacturing services sector grew 17.6% in ’06

August 21, 2007

The global contract electronics manufacturing services (EMS) market grew 17.6% in 2006. During this same period, the global electronics assembly market grew 13.9%. Electronic Trend Publications (ETP) estimates the EMS market will continue to grow briskly in the coming years, as the outsourcing of electronics manufacturing continues.

In its report, “The Worldwide Electronics Manufacturing Services Market, 4th Edition”, the research firm reports EMS industry revenue will nearly double in the next five years, reaching $442 billion in 2011.

The report begins with a forecasted value of global electronics assembly (cost of goods sold). ETP estimates total electronics assembly value was $923 billion in 2006 and will grow to nearly $1.3 trillion in 2011. Driven by this particular market, this is what causes ETP to believe the EMS industry will grow from the $223 billion today to the estimated $442 billion in 2011.
